FFP will focus on any attack to the right of Texas families to raise their children. We focus our efforts on the rights of families in three main areas:
- Raising Children
- We strive to protect the integrity of the parent child relationship against outside forces seeking to interfere with parental responsibility. This includes reforming Child Protective Services to protect innocent families from traumatic investigations and removal of children. We also work to protect as well as protecting families from usurpation of parental rights by non-parents who may disagree with a parent’s legitimate religious, conscientious, or personal decisions regarding how to raise and train their child.
- Legitimate parenting decisions once clearly understood to be the responsibility of the parent are now increasingly challenged in court by non-parents or state agencies who disagree with a person’s parenting methods. We believe that a parent’s decisions regarding their child must be presumed to be in the child’s best interests and that third parties should only be able to interfere in those decisions if a court finds that it is necessary to protect the child from significant harm.
- Medical Decisions
- We believe that parents have a right and responsibility before God to protect the welfare of their children. Therefore, parents are the ones entrusted with the duty to consult the necessary professionals and evaluate their child’s medical needs. Medical procedures, treatments, vaccinations, and evaluations for a child must all be done only with parental knowledge and consent. Parent’s must be able to solicit multiple medical opinions without threat of retaliation and must have priority access to their child’s medical records in order to protect the safety of their child.
- Educational Freedom
- We believe raising children is a family’s God-given right and calling. We believe in empowering parents to raise and educate the next generation of leaders. Parents have the right to choose the form and style of their child’s education and are the ones best equipped to mold an educational path that meets their child’s needs. Whether a parent chooses public school, private school, homeschooling, or a hybrid form of education, FFP works to ensure your rights as a parent are respected and protected. This takes many shapes and forms and could look like ensuring parental notification and consent on curriculum, how your child will be counseled while at school or outside the school, and protecting parental choice regarding what type of school is best for their child.
