Inside the Fight to Protect Families from CPS Overreach
With our priority CPS reform bill, HB 730, we are leading the charge to implement significant reforms in the CPS system, protect parental rights, and ensure accountability for this powerful agency.
There is no such thing as someone else’s child
Statement by President Biden: "There is no such thing as someone else's child...Our nation's children are all our children."
HB 956 a Direct Attack on Parental Rights
The Texas Legislative session continues to have plenty of action on the parental rights front! A few weeks ago, the Family Freedom Project (FFP) gave testimony in the Texas House Juvenile Justice and Family Issues (JJFI) against HB 956 which is a broad and direct attack on the fundamental rights of parents to raise their children as they see fit. The bill is now officially dead in the [...]
Update on Parental Rights Constitutional Amendments
By Tim Lambert With so much going on in the legislature to do with parental rights, I have dubbed this Texas Legislative Session the Parental Rights Session. I call it that because many bills that are being filed and heard are related to the fundamental, God-given right of parents to raise their children as they see fit. Another evidence of that is the fact that several Texas Constitutional Amendments [...]
Protecting Future Generations’ Parental Rights
Protecting future generations happens one step at a time. We continue to champion the Parental Rights Amendment (PRA) to the TX Constitution.
House Bill 730 Offers Promising Reforms to CPS Investigative Procedures in Texas
On April 13, House Bill 730 was voted out of committee in the Texas House after receiving a positive hearing the week before. The bill provides extensive pro-family reforms to Child Protective Services (CPS) investigative procedures. The bill received a very positive reception, which is promising news for Texas families and children. CPS is a governmental agency tasked with the responsibility of investigating and intervening in cases of child abuse [...]
Halfway Through the Legislative Session, We Are Making Progress

Victory for Parental Rights Before the Supreme Court of Texas
Treigh’s in-law made this request despite agreeing openly in court that Treigh was a good father and a fit parent. On Friday, January 27, a major victory for parental rights was achieved when the Supreme Court of Texas rejected the request, thereby leaving in place the favorable decision from the Court of Appeals and ensuring that Treigh will retain his full rights regarding the upbringing of his children.
FFP Filed Brief to Defend Texas Father at the Supreme Court of Texas
In December 2022, the Family Freedom Project filed a brief, defending Texas father, Treigh Kalinec, and his children in what could be a critically important case for all Texas parents. Treigh Kalinec, a father from Texas, has been engaged in a legal battle where he is fighting for custody of his children. After initially navigating a lengthy Child Protective Services (CPS) investigation, the court sent Treight’s children back to [...]
CPS and the “Hidden” Foster Care System
Hidden foster care system: PCSP (Parent Child Safety Placement) may sound like a less aggressive approach to foster care but make no mistake, this is foster care.
Important Supreme Court of Texas Case Updates
It is no surprise to most families that the family and children are under assault in our society and culture today, and Texas is no exception. Almost four decades ago, a small group of activists started a grassroots organization to defend the rights of parents in Texas to teach their children at home. The basis of that right, we argued, was the fact that parents have a God-given right [...]

Family Freedom Project Champions Bill to Protect Families From CPS Overreach
Families matter, and every day they are threatened by entities that operate in the shadows and without accountability. Because family and freedom should come first, we have filed a Child Protective Services (CPS) bill that, if passed, will enforce greater accountability standards on CPS. While CPS plays a necessary role in society, they all too often function with an egregious lack of accountability. This omnibus bill was filed [...]

The Tutt Family
With the recent launch of the Family Freedom Project, we are reflecting on the stories of those who have sacrificed so much for parental rights in the state of texas. On September 21, 2013, a four-year-old autistic child in the Tutts’ care wandered away from the home after climbing over a baby gate, out a dog door, and over a 5 foot fence. The Tutts’ eight-year-old followed the [...]

Every Election is the Most Important, Including This One
Parents all across the country are shocked to see the attack on our children and parental rights. However, all these issues have one thing in common. The decision to allow such things in our society is made by officials that are elected by us, the voters. One of the most important things we can do to protect our children is to vote for people who will oppose such [...]
CA Law Would Help Children Get Gender Transition Surgery Without Parental Consent
Governor Newsom of California recently signed SB 107 into law. The law allows judges in CA to terminate custody of parents living in their states if the parent's child shows up in CA seeking gender transition treatments without parental knowledge or consent. SB 107, which passed the California legislature with overwhelming support, empowers the State of California to effectively reach into families’ homes in all 50 states. Under this [...]
