Thank you for your interest in protecting your right to parent. While Family Freedom Project is unable to assist in every single case. we will do what we can to support you. FFP makes decisions on a case by case basis. We prioritize cases with a strong chance of success and which are likely to have a broad cultural or legal impact on the right of families to raise their children. Please contact us here if you have a case that you would like us to consider.
For the last 10 years, our team has been working on parental rights issues beyond homeschooling based on the premise that parents have a God-given right to raise their children and that this foundation is what gives families the right to homeschool. In recognition of our culture’s rising need for strong leadership in defense of parental rights, the Family Freedom Project was launched as a partner organization, to expand our defense of parental rights in society.
The role, responsibility, and leadership of Texas Home School Coalition continues. THSC will continue to lead Texas and the nation in our tireless support of homeschool families and the right of families to educate their children.
As an affiliate of THSC, the Family Freedom Project will advance in its mission to advocate for and defend the liberty of families to raise their children as they see fit.
The Family Freedom Project is a nonprofit 501c3 organization based in Texas. FFP is dedicated to keeping Texas families free from heavy handed government intrusion. Family Freedom Project was launched out of a desire to address the ongoing assault against parental rights targeting families and children.
Family Freedom Project will educate and activate Texas families and parents to ensure the future for our families is bright. We:
- Educate and inform Texas of ongoing threats to parental rights
- Take on court cases where we can legally fight to preserve parental rights
- Advocate before the Texas legislature and government officials for laws that protect the right of families to raise their children.
FFP will focus on any attack to the right of Texas families to raise their children. We focus our efforts on the rights of families in three main areas:
- Raising Children
- We strive to protect the integrity of the parent child relationship against outside forces seeking to interfere with parental responsibility. This includes reforming Child Protective Services to protect innocent families from traumatic investigations and removal of children. We also work to protect as well as protecting families from usurpation of parental rights by non-parents who may disagree with a parent’s legitimate religious, conscientious, or personal decisions regarding how to raise and train their child.
- Legitimate parenting decisions once clearly understood to be the responsibility of the parent are now increasingly challenged in court by non-parents or state agencies who disagree with a person’s parenting methods. We believe that a parent’s decisions regarding their child must be presumed to be in the child’s best interests and that third parties should only be able to interfere in those decisions if a court finds that it is necessary to protect the child from significant harm.
- Medical Decisions
- We believe that parents have a right and responsibility before God to protect the welfare of their children. Therefore, parents are the ones entrusted with the duty to consult the necessary professionals and evaluate their child’s medical needs. Medical procedures, treatments, vaccinations, and evaluations for a child must all be done only with parental knowledge and consent. Parent’s must be able to solicit multiple medical opinions without threat of retaliation and must have priority access to their child’s medical records in order to protect the safety of their child.
- Educational Freedom
- We believe raising children is a family’s God-given right and calling. We believe in empowering parents to raise and educate the next generation of leaders. Parents have the right to choose the form and style of their child’s education and are the ones best equipped to mold an educational path that meets their child’s needs. Whether a parent chooses public school, private school, homeschooling, or a hybrid form of education, FFP works to ensure your rights as a parent are respected and protected. This takes many shapes and forms and could look like ensuring parental notification and consent on curriculum, how your child will be counseled while at school or outside the school, and protecting parental choice regarding what type of school is best for their child.
